The LEAPP Guidelines group has been developing and updating both the Australian Pregnancy Care Guidelines and the Australian Postnatal Care Guidelines since 2023, providing Australians with the latest research and guidance for pregnancy and postnatal care. Central to this are our LEAPP Panel members making critical decisions and providing valuable feedback in light of the research presented to them, as well as being key contributors to the dissemination and overall uptake of our guidelines.
Three of our multidisciplinary panels are currently looking for new panel members to join our conversations and provide valuable insights into pregnancy and postnatal care. We encourage health professionals from a broad range of disciplines to apply as we seek to ensure a range of backgrounds, perspectives and experiences are represented.
A brief overview of the roles of each panel are as follows:
Pregnancy Panel
Working alongside the ALEC Evidence Team, the Pregnancy Panel develops PICO criteria for prioritised clinical questions, reviews research evidence, comments on recommendations in development, reviews guidance from other sources within pregnancy care and points out anything that the ALEC Evidence Team may have overlooked.
Postnatal Panel
Similar to the Pregnancy Panel, our Postnatal Panel works alongside the ALEC Evidence Team, developing PICO criteria for prioritised clinical questions, reviewing research evidence, commenting on recommendations in development, reviewing guidance from other sources within postnatal care and pointing out anything that the ALEC Evidence Team may have overlooked.
Guideline Leadership Group (GLG)
The GLG has an overarching clinical governance role, reviewing all of the proposed recommendations and checking for wider consistency. GLG Panel members are also tasked with prioritising new topics and providing clinical advice to the Steering Committee when required.
