WHY WE NEED a next generation system for using evidence more effectively in health
The grand challenge
Everyday in Australia, important healthcare decisions are made with incomplete or out-dated knowledge about what’s been proven to work for patients, what delivers the best value for the health system, or where more research is needed. This is because the rigorous ‘gold standard’ processes for incorporating new research into the existing evidence base simply take too long and cannot keep up with the ever increasing deluge of new research and health-related data.
WHAT we aim to DO
The Living Evidence model aims to reduce the lag time between research publication and incorporation into evidence-based guidance from years to weeks, and reduce the time and unit costs associated with key steps in producing systematics reviews and guideline recommendations by up to 75%.
DELIVER
LIVING
EVIDENCE
Build capacity for delivering living systematic reviews and evidence-based guideline recommendations that are reliable, accessible and continuously updated as new research becomes available.
AccElerate
research
to IMPACT
Accelerate the potential for new research to drive better health outcomes and better value healthcare in Australia.
BE GLOBAL
leaders &
partners
Maintain Australia’s position at the forefront of global efforts of to develop Living Evidence platforms, processes and partnerships.
How we’LL deliver
We’re embarking on an ambitious program of work to establish Living Evidence as the new benchmark for using evidence more effectively within the Australian healthcare system.
Our program will be driven by Frontier Projects to develop living guideline recommendations for some of Australia’s most pressing health conditions including stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, musculoskeletal conditions and heart disease.
