The Opportunity

Monash University is seeking a Research Fellow to join the Australian Living Evidence Collaboration (part of Cochrane Australia) within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the Alfred campus.

We are seeking an outstanding Level B Research Fellow to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team leading the development of living clinical practice guidelines for pregnancy care in Australia (as part of the LEAPP project).

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to nationally significant work that directly informs clinical decision-making, health policy, and maternity care practice. The successful candidate will play a central role in coordinating and undertaking high-quality evidence syntheses, applying rigorous methodological standards, and translating emerging research into timely, trustworthy recommendations for clinicians.

Working within a collaborative environment that brings together methodological experts, clinicians, policymakers and consumer representatives, the Research Fellow will contribute to the design and delivery of innovative “living” evidence processes. This includes surveillance of new research, critical appraisal and grading of evidence, and supporting guideline panels to formulate and update recommendations in near real time. The position will also involve stakeholder engagement, preparation of technical reports and peer-reviewed publications, and contribution to funding applications and strategic initiatives.

We are looking for a motivated and methodologically strong researcher with expertise in evidence synthesis, clinical epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline. Experience in systematic reviews, guideline development, or implementation science will be highly regarded, as will familiarity with GRADE methods and digital technologies supporting evidence workflows. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of pregnancy care in Australia by ensuring that the latest and most robust evidence is translated rapidly and transparently into practice.

About the Role

As a Research Fellow you will undertake research in evidence synthesis and guideline development, contributing both independently and as part of collaborative research teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting systematic reviews and evidence syntheses to support clinical guideline development
• Applying living evidence methods to monitor and synthesise emerging research evidence
• Producing research publications and conference presentations
• Contributing to research proposals and funding applications
• Supporting and mentoring research staff or students where appropriate
• Contributing to collaborative research activities within Cochrane Australia and partner organisations
